The idea for this specific game, originated somewhere around early 2012. At this time the main developer Dominik worked on his diploma thesis with a good friend. The topic of that thesis was to develop a mobile game for Android. It was the first time that Dominik worked on a game development project. They started to develop a skill based game for Android. One evening Dominik was thinking about games and their development, he remembered back to the old school days of gaming. And then he remembered a game from his childhood. The target of this game was to solve a puzzle with water pipes. He couldn’t remember the exact name of the game, but he could still remember how much fun it was to play. So he immediately took his phone and searched for similar games. And yes, he found some games, but all games of this kind, weren’t that good as he thought.
So he decided to develop his own game of this sort. Plumber 3D was born. The project started as a side project and the development progress was slow. After the diploma thesis was finished, he was searching for a new challenge. He looked through all of his old projects. He remembered the project “Water pipe fun” (old working title of Plumber 3D) and saw the big potential of this game, so he decided to make this side project to his new main project, with the target of a public release.
The development started as a really simple 2D water pipe puzzle. After the main game logic was finished, he noticed that the game was too simple and too similar to his model. He decided to involve Julia in the project to improve the game and give it a new direction.
Now the game has undergone significant changes. The game presentation was changed from 2D to 3D and three new water pipe types were added, including the “double curve” type. After the new features had been implemented, Julia began to design 600 Levels. Dominik took this time to improve the graphics and polished up many other things. After many weeks of hard work the game was finished and a big beta phase was completed. Many feedbacks from the testers came back and were later implemented into the game. Now nothing was stood in the way to release the first Android version.
